YOGA ON MYKONOS
As soon as you set foot on the pool deck or the fine sand of Platys Gialos, the Myconian sun and Aegean Sea begin to work their magic. Take your sense of wellbeing to new heights with our range of yoga sessions that release toxins and tensions.

If you are already a seasoned practitioner, you will know all about the restorative power of yoga to place the body and mind in perfect equilibrium. But you may find that the idyllic conditions on Mykonos enhance these benefits.

We offer group sessions either indoors or outdoors, with an emphasis on special settings such as secret sunrise yoga or yoga by full-moon, as well as private sunset sessions paired with meditation. Water yoga is most effective for injuries and delicate joints.

To encourage beginners, we also offer introductory classes for groups or private clients. One week of regular practice is all you need to transform your life. As of 2017, we will also be hosting dedicated Yoga Retreats with world class teachers at the Ambassador (click here to find out more).

And don’t worry about having the right sports outfit: although our boutique stocks yoga-wear, all that is really required are comfortable loose clothing, bare feet and an open mind.

TYPES OF YOGA
Hatha is a traditional style that includes the practice of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which quieten the mind and body and prepare for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. It is relatively gentle, slow and great for beginners or students who favor a relaxed style in which poses are held for longer.

Vinyasa style practice emphasizes a continuous flow of movement through sun salutations, dynamic breathing and holding poses for prolonged periods.
Each part of the body is worked in a deep and mindful way through this practice that builds strength, tones and detoxifies.

Ashtanga is a method that involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures, always in the same order. It is a challenging process that produce intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Bikram comprises a series of 26 yoga postures (asanas) and two breathing excercises (pranayama). As you move through the postures you stretch your spine and muscles, stimulate the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood through the entire body restoring all systems to a healthy working
order. The series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control, which lead to increased mental clarity and reduced stress.

Anusara is a relatively new method that teaches a set of universal principles of alignment that underlie all yoga postures, while encouraging flowing with grace and following your heart. The practice of Anusara is broadly categorized into three parts known as the Three A’s. attitude, alignment and action.

Restorative yoga is a gentle form of yoga that allows students to relax the body into a gentle stretch. This style makes use of a range of props, including bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets. The intention is to provide support within each pose, making it easier to release any mental and physical tension.

Therapeutic yoga applies bio-mechanical principles to facilitate healing. If you experience chronic pain or have had an acute injury, this class will empower you to create life-enhancing change in your whole being that will clear pain and facilitate healing.
